A week or so ago, I attended "Soul Collage", a reflective, creative practice designed to help people explore their inner life—thoughts, emotions, identities, and personal experiences—through intuitive collage-making.
When facilitated by someone like Laura Numsen, the purpose usually goes beyond just making art. It’s about guided self-discovery in a supportive, small-group setting. In short, the objective is to help people better understand themselves by tapping into intuition, creativity, and reflection, accompanied by a guide who holds the space and gently prompts deeper exploration.
I admit to being in no mood for the experience that night...this past April 13th...and, in all honesty, forgot about it until Gay Lynn Price texted me to ask if I was coming.
Up from the comfy couch, shoes back on, and I was out the door arriving a tad late.
It was a small group. Good for us. Bad for whomever considered going and decided not to. I was glad I went. I was tired, yes, and spent from being "on" on Saturday and Sunday but being there helped me renew.
It took a couple of weeks for me to actually "see" what I'd found of myself in the pages of old magazines as reflected by my collage from that evening.
It's funny that in spite of how tired I was, I dropped into what appealed to me. Tired or not, it was good I was there because getting older makes each next moment more precious than the last...and I don't want to ever take that for granted.
